A Tribute to Jeremy Turner
Today we honour Jeremy Turner, the brilliant and humble architect whose vision, curiosity, and deep respect for nature helped shape Lofoten Links into something that feels like golf carved out of the sea, wind and sky.
Jeremy didn’t set out to become a golf course designer — he stumbled into the vocation as a landscape-trained architect and then chose, with his own hands and heart, to build golf in places most people only dream about. Along the way he left his mark on courses across Scandinavia, designing more than a dozen golf venues and redefining what golf could be in wild, windswept places.
But here at Lofoten, his work was nothing short of magic. He met Frode Hov’s father, Tor Alfred, on a patch of land where the Norwegian Sea meets stone and grass — a place no sane person would’ve bet on for golf. Together they began with six humble holes. That seed grew, slowly and organically, over decades into one of the most remarkable links experiences on the planet.
Jeremy understood that this course wasn’t about imposing a design on the land — it was about listening to it. He saw what the terrain whispered and helped coax it into a place where the wind becomes an opponent, the sea a constant companion, and every round is a conversation between golfer and nature.
From the way the course meets the sea to how it unfolds beneath Hoven, Jeremy played a defining role in shaping Lofoten Links. His routing has been the setting for countless rounds under the midnight sun and lasting memories for players from around the world.
We at Lofoten Links are endlessly grateful for Jeremy’s vision, his generosity, and his belief that golf could be unlike anything anyone had ever seen. What he co-created with us isn’t just a course — it’s a pilgrimage, a testament to adventure, and a living legacy that will greet every sunrise and stir every heart that tees it up for years to come.
From all of us at Lofoten Links, thank you, Jeremy.
You gave us links shaped by sea and spirit — just as rugged, beautiful, and unforgettable as life itself.
