When snow covers the mountains of Lofoten, snowshoes open the way to places otherwise difficult to reach.
Together with a local nature guide from Polar Folk Lofoten, you’ll make your way into the mountains of the Kleppstad area, climbing steadily through the snow towards a viewpoint overlooking the surrounding peaks, fjords and Norwegian Sea.
The journey is as much a part of the experience as reaching the top. Along the way, your guide will share stories and knowledge of the landscape, local nature and wildlife, with time to stop, look around and take in the stillness of the Arctic winter.
Depending on the group, weather and snow conditions, the tour will either continue to the summit or a lower viewpoint. You may also encounter some of the wildlife that calls this landscape home, including sea eagles and grouse.
No previous snowshoeing experience is necessary, but this is an uphill mountain experience and a medium level of fitness is required.
When snow conditions do not allow for snowshoes, the adventure continues on foot using microspikes.
